“French Teachers Can Figure It Out”: Understanding French as a Second Language (FSL) Teachers’ Work in the Context of the COVID-19 Pandemic

In 2020, the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic forced teachers in Ontario to move online. Since then, teaching online or hybrid models has been common across province. To understand how French as a Second Language (FSL) navigated these spaces, four were interviewed about their experience using educational technology and Findings analyzed light of Hargreaves Fullan’s (2020) reframing classic understandings teachers’ work context global pandemic. show that factors influencing professional capital reflect concerns among Canadian educators, alongside those specific FSL context. Participants' marginalization seclusion demonstrates importance both psychic rewards cultures collaboration. Ongoing efforts capture ways which shaped by experience, therefore, require looking beyond individual classrooms connected systems systematic reform.
